Equal Opportunity Programs
     
 
The Equal Opportunity Programs Office is charged with providing and monitoring policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal, state, and internal policies regarding equal opportunity and affirmative action for the University community.
 
The Equal Opportunity Programs Department's responsibilities include:
  • Prepare and publish the University’s Search and Screen Procedures Handbook.
  • Post all faculty openings.
  • Investigate both internal and external complaints of unlawful discrimination based upon race, color, creed, age, handicap, sex (including sexual harassment), religion, marital status, or national origin, filed by employees, students or applicants.
  • Ensure that the University AIDS Policy protecting persons with AIDS and/or HIV from illegal discrimination is enforced.
  • Serve as liaison with the Board of Governors and Federal agencies regarding affirmative action and equal opportunity guidelines and compliance.
  • Provide training in a number of key areas: ADA, Diversity, Respect versus Harassment, and Sexual Harassment.
Some of the services provided by the Equal Opportunity Programs Office include:
  • Administer Centralized Funds for the Accommodation of disabled employees.
  • Early notification of Inclement Weather conditions for employees with disabilities.
  • Provide guidance and/or mediation for manager and employees regarding sensitive issues.
