As part of FIU’s policy, employees are entitled to seven days of paid bereavement leave following the loss of an immediate family member. Additionally, employees may request approval to use accumulated sick leave, vacation leave, or unpaid leave for bereavement purposes. For more details, please refer to the Bereavement Policy.

Our Office of Employee Assistance is available to assist our faculty, staff, and retirees with counseling support and resources.
