Director, Employee Assistance
Provides overall administration of operations and either provides or supervises all employee assistance clinical services. Major services include confidential consultation and assessment, brief intervention and/or referral to community organizations providing services when appropriate, and follow-up. Consults with faculty, staff, and administration on issues related to employees’ health and wellness. Responds to individuals and departments that have experienced a crisis. Develops and conducts training sessions to enhance quality of life, resilience and work/life balance.
Yelenia Almarales, MPA, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, FPC
Provides leadership and direction in the administration of HR systems to support key human resources initiatives and advance the mission of the Division and the University. Strategically partners with all HR departments and other University units to develop and implement projects that will enhance HR-related IT services. Ensures the integrity of personnel related data and the maintenance of all demographic, employment, benefits, and payroll information. Focuses on managing all aspects of technology service delivery, including high level consultation with senior leadership, proposal development, and management of multiple projects.
Director, Finance and Analysis
Serves as the Budget Manager, working closely with Vice President for Human Resources on strategic planning and evaluation of the Division’s budget. Manages and plans all operational accounts, and ensures expenditures remain within budgetary allocations. In addition, plans and develops the implementation of internal controls as it relates to budgetary matters, performs analysis and projections for use in administrative decision making, oversees audit matters, and prepares Board of Governors files for submission.
Plans and implements the university’s payroll and employee’s records processing function and activities. Implements policies related to payroll administration for efficient and effective function operation. Provides assistance with the resolution of operational problems related to the payroll system. Serves as custodian of all employee records on behalf of the university and ensures confidentiality of employee records.
Director, Employee and Labor Relations
Ensures University's compliance with applicable Federal/State/Local laws, and provides interpretation for the Collective Bargaining Agreements and University policies. Evaluates the effectiveness of the University policies and bargaining agreements in relation to the University's strategic objectives and initiatives. Provides confidential support to management and staff in all ELR matters.
Director, HR Relations
Provides strategic assistance and planning for new initiatives to enhance the human resource function for the University, as well as plan special events for employees and retirees. Develops human resource articles of interest in the Employee Life section of the News@fiu.
Assistant Vice President for Operations, Compliance and Systems
Provides leadership for the Payroll, Employee Records, HR Service Center and HRIS Departments. Manages technology projects necessary to build and maintain technological infrastructure. Administers the implementation of all personnel transactions and assures maintenance of auditable records. Manages all PantherSoft HR initiatives. Ensures the Customer Service Center serves as the Division’s communication gateway to delivering outstanding customer service to the FIU community.
Director, Compensation Administration
Directs the planning, design, implementation and administration of the University’s compensation programs, including those related to: market pricing, survey participation, base salary structure, merit pay programs, variable pay, job evaluation and leveling, core system changes, etc. Researches strategic and tactical compensation issues and recommends new initiatives and changes to programs and practices, as necessary. Leads compensation projects that support the overall compensation strategy and/or University’s strategic objectives. Regularly reviews market trends and salary schedules to ensure the University’s competitiveness within the marketplace; recommends adjustments to salary structures, models and approaches in support of University goals and objectives. Proactively identifies and responds to current University initiatives and external changes as they relate to compensation.
Director, Talent Management & Development
Develops and directs the university-wide Talent Management and Development functions, including strategies for building the talent pipeline: assessing, developing, and retaining talent. Develops the strategies and systems for Talent Management and Succession Planning. Oversees the Leadership Development Institute, Professional Development programs, New Employee Orientation and Onboarding, and Performance Management systems and processes.

Assistant Vice President
Assists the VP for Human Resources with providing leadership and policy direction in all aspects of the administration. Responsible for the compensation, talent management & development, benefits, and recruitment services areas of the division; as well as HR operations on the Biscayne Bay Campus. Acts as liaison for the administration of uniform personnel policies for the University.
